Well, as the entire country now knows, the Democrats were swept in the top three ticket positions this past November 3d. What does this mean for Virginia? Well, only time will tell. I know how some of my democratic friends feel: not good. Of course, my republican friends are elated, but that is to be expected.

As a member of the democratic party, on OFA's veterans committee, and President of the Northern Virginia Black Democrats, I worked immensely in my efforts to get democrats elected as our next governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general, yet to no avail. Though our opponent, Bob McDonell, will serve as our great Commonwealth's newest governor, I wish him all the best.

You may ask why I wish Bob McDonnell the best. Well the answer is simple; if Governor-elect McDonnell does a good job, then it means that Virginia is doing well, and at the end of the day, that is all that matters. It is good knowing that Gov (elect) McDonnell has already reached out to several Democrat state delegates and pledged to work across party lines to continue strengthening our Commonwealth.

Of course, I would have prefered it if Creigh Deeds were our incoming governor, but that is water under the bridge. Now, we members of the Democratic Party of Virginia must regroup and learn from the lessons of this past campaign cycle, in order for us to be victorious in the upcoming elections.
